I joined the Yorkshire and Humberside Division of the Career Development Group in September 2008 after being approached by my friend who is its Chair. As Newsletter Editor, I was responsible for editing articles for the newsletter, which we publish four times a year.
Being involved in the role of Newsletter Editor and a Career Development Group Committee Member provided me with a valuable opportunity to be an active member of CILIP and also with a method of giving something back to the wider Information Profesional community. The newsletter enabled me to inspire, promote and support other Information Professionals and also promote continual professional development and where possible active participation by other CILIP members.
I've now moved roles within the Division's Committee to be Events Co-Ordinator. This role will enable me to gain valuable experience I can use in my current role as a Librarian. I'll be resposible for organising events across the Yorkshire region, working closely with other Information Professionals and ensure that events meet the needs of our members and those working towards CILIP's Framework of Qualifications. I'm looking forward to this new exciting challenge.
